AWLSTAR® GOLD LABEL Antifouling
Tin-free, ablative, co-polymer
Multi-season performance
Unique cleaning mechanism prevents permanent attachment of slime and all other types of fouling organisms
Recommended for use on fiberglass, wood, and steel

AWLWASH™ – Wash Down Concentrate
An effective detergent for cleaning, yet still gentle enough for frequent use on AWLGRIP® and AWLCRAFT® 2000. AWLWASH™ has been extensively tested in the harsh yacht environment.

AWLWASH™ does not contain alkalies, acids, or abrasives, and is free rinsing, which decreases drying time.
AWLWASH™ is 100% biodegradable and comes in a refillable, “Tip ‘N Measure” container, which makes it easy to get the proper mix ratio: One ounce of AWLWASH™ per gallon of water.

2004 Bottom Painting Choices

After years of performing independent tests, and simply watching the boats as they come out of the water in the fall, we have come up with the three best paints for their respective price ranges.

“Good”

Pettit Unepoxy Standard

A high performance economy antifouling paint which has been custom formulated to provide outstanding bottom protection at a very affordable price. Unepoxy Plus is a modified epoxy that dries to a hard finish able to withstand season-long use and abuse. It has excellent adhesion to fiberglass, wood and properly primed steel hulls and is compatible over most previously applied bottom paints. Compared to other traditional modified epoxy antifoulants, Unepoxy Plus has more copper for the dollar making it the right choice for the value conscious boat owner. Unepoxy is available in five popular colors.

“Better”

Pettit Horizons

ABLATIVE TECHNOLOGY REDUCES COATING BUILD-UP
CAN BE LAUNCHED AND RELAUNCHED WITHOUT REPAINTING
CAN BE PAINTED UP TO 12 MONTHS BEFORE LAUNCHING
EXCELLENT FOR TRAILERED BOATS
Horizons Ablative Antifouling Bottom Paint offers excellent protection from fouling along with all of the benefits of ablative antifouling. Economically priced, Horizons performs well in all conditions including severe fouling waters.

“Best”

Micron Extra with Biolux

Micron Extra combines the slime blocking power of Biolux™ with controlled solubility copolymer antifouling paint technology to provide long-lasting, full-spectrum defense against fouling organisms. Micron Extra incorporates Biolux™ along with cuprous oxide to achieve complete protection against shell, weed and slime fouling.

The antifouling ingredients are chemically bonded into Micron Extra’s copolymer matrix, which is engineered to gradually wear away as the boat moves through the water, much like a bar of soap. This self-polishing process results in the constant, controlled delivery of biocides from freshly exposed paint film surface, and assures consistent, long-lasting performance and maximum efficiency.

Micron Extra retains it’s antifouling effectiveness when hauled and can be relaunched without repainting. The longevity of Micron Extra is related to the amount of paint applied.

Micron CSC

The innovative copper-copolymer formula of Micron CSC provides a controlled release of antifouling biocide at the paint surface, which means that the longevity of the coating is related to the amount of paint applied.

Micron CSC will not lose its effectiveness when hauled out of the water for extended periods of time (such as winter storage). All that is needed to reactivate the paint in the spring is to wash the surface using a stiff brush or lightly powerwash.

Gelcoat Blistering

Interprotect® 2000E is the newest development of Interprotect® 2000. It has many of the same outstanding properties but does not contain methylene chloride. For this reason it is designated with the “E’’ to be a more environmentally preferred product.

Technically, the Interprotect® Micro-Plate® formula provides millions of overlapping microscopic plates. When bound in the epoxy coatings, they create an overlapping barrier similar to shingles on a roof. Micro-Plates therefore eliminate any direct path for water migration.
